Who wants to be a DIVERGENT? Put your hands up!

Who wants to be a DIVERGENT? Put your hands up! I am not a critique, seemingly so expert on all the tit-and-tat of the dystopian genre. I won't be reviewing its plot since many have already pointed out the content of this book and what you can find. My review will solely be on my own feeling on reading this book.

This book review is a bit late since I've finished book almost 2 months ago. Well I've been meaning to have this book reviewed but the holiday season caught up and my interviews came pouring so I didn't have the time. Now, I'm free so better that I do my review of this book.First of all, this book is just an accidental read that I had because I was browsing through the goodreads recommended books and hey I saw this goodread choice of the year so I tried. And here's what I think of it.

I am not really a fan of dystopian novels and the only series that I've read by far is the Hunger Games. To be honest, the first pages of the book got me confused. I was like what? I can't understand what this is all about. And then as I progressed through my reading I understood but not until half-way. When I reached the end I was left hanging and I thought to myself does this really need a second one?

Reading Divergent got me thinking of how the world really works. It gives us the idea of how the traits, personalities and behavior of the people around us affect our own. It is a seemingly interconnected world that makes us think that our choices, purely decided on our own, can do good or can inflict harm to the people that we love and those that we don't even care about. Divergent, as it is said, is all about the choices that we make and how it can affect the world, only in this novel it caused war. Choices as we all know is a very big decision making and there's no right or wrong, it only depends on the perspective of those who chose.

In Divergent, we also got to see the discrimination in the society. The weak, the nerd, the honest, the carefree and the bully. It reflects the current problem in the society, the stereotyping of almost all of the people. This discusses the effect of these stereotyping and how the world is in chaos because of this. It just goes to show that we are, at present, a society that is divided.

If I were to choose from one of the factions, I would like to be a candor for in candor they value honesty. If we are all honest then everything will just come as normal. There would be no corruption and people will be honest of what they feel. It may not be perfect but at least everyone are being their true selves. But that's just my own opinion.

My overall take on this book is positive. It made me rethink of the choices that I made in the past and look back on how it affected my life today. It is a great deal to be knowing how to choose wisely because of the consequences that it will bring. My idea is not so coherent so I better stop.
